i am a new to posting on this board though i have been actively reading your posts the past while and i thank some of you for the interesting viewpoints that you have verbalized and that i have enjoyed thinking on.

i am still an active jw, in fact an elder of 20 years standing hence my need to limit information about my personal circumstances.

i have served in a number of countries in europe as a pioneer and elder over the past three decades.

Your contempt for women is showing, Tom. Or should I say, your contempt for women who aren't submissive victims. You've called us featherheaded broads, man-haters, and disgusting. Your voluminous love for women apparently extends only to hookers and victims. Those women who dare to question your version of the status quo get to wear your nastiest labels. Because we dare to question your basic sexist assumptions, you feel the need to denigrate our motives, implying our morality is somehow inferior to yours.

Tell yourself whatever it takes to make you feel superior to us, Tom. By all means, be sure to tell everyone as loudly as possible that your manly experience is superior to ours, and your manly opinion is morally superior to ours in every detail. And be sure to loudly proclaim that those of us who were not sucked into that troll's fantasy are all evil disgusting feminist bitches. Extol the virtues of Rahab and Mary, fictional characters in a peternalist fantasy, as if that somehow has anything to do with anything happening here. Sell the hooker-with-heart-of-gold stereotype if it helps you. Just don't expect those of us who managed to live without taking that route to buy your wares.

Those of us who actually think about these things, know whose attitude is really disgusting.

so you think your wife isn't capable of making her own spiritual decisions? No matter how you rationalize it, it still shows you have a proprietary attitude towatd your wife. In small words, you think you are her 'owner'. This attitude, while heartily endorsed by the Watchtower and other cults, is no less revolting becasue you can't imagine any other attitude. You stand alone before your Judge, Hilary. So does your wife. Your excusemaking and protesting are no big surprise, tho. Admit yer a sexist pig? Not bloody likely, is it?

Why are you so defensive? Did you think you were going to make some wholesale conversion of the feelthy apostates and bring them back into your chosen leaky liferaft? Or were you hoping everyone would comgratulate you on your compromise of conscience?

In all honesty,...Honesty sucks!

greetings friends,.

i have just filed my income taxes and it got me thinking about the whole "true christians are to be honest in all things" mindset.

although i commend the jw religion for advocting honesty in all things for me this was a very challenging and exhausting experience.. for many years i was self-employed and finally gave up the business world because it became very difficult to survive without resorting to some unscrupulous business dealings.

In or out of any organization, I've always been the same. I'm one of those hopeless boobs who pays every penny of tax (filed & paid self-employment every stinking year no matter how puny the amount) and turns in lost wallets. My boss used to laugh at me because I bought stamps out of the company supply. She just used them for her personal mail, told me I could too(she owned the business), but I never felt easy until I had paid for the stupid stamp. Mom's platitudes/attitudes stuck with me pretty good I guess.

I've never found honesty to be especially rewarding or anything. It's just the thing I do. I have found it's best not to expect it out of other people, then it's a delightful surprise when they do display it. I have a fond hope that what goes around comes around, and that honesty can be proved to be the best policy, but honestly? It's just another thing I take 'on faith'. Old habits die hard...

i have noticed several times when you refer to americans you use the phrase 'merkins'.

now as far as slurs go that one is pretty lame, really i have lived here all my life (32 years) and i have never heard any american talk like that.

Mommy, when the ducks get big, you ROAST and EAT them. Then they are a mouthful, not a handful. For kittens, I don't recommend roasting. However, you can turn a profit on the cats if you sell 'em to a laboratory.

new, nowhere to turn, ashamed & afraid

hullo everybody i'm new here, even though i've been lurking now for several months.. i have to say how afraid i am to post, afraid and ashamed but i feel if i dont tell my story, i honestly dont know what may happen to me or my children if they lose me, right now i feel like i've got nowhere left to turn and have my doubts about this place as well.. i know my story will shock you but i cant keep it in any longer.

i am recently disfellowshipped for immorality, the subject of a kingdom hall witch -hunt and subsequent congregational humiliation, .

during the process of the judicial committee meetings and proceedings no consideration was given to my real human circumstances nor to the spirit of survival nor human nature nor that of a mother seeking to protect her children from lack of basic fundamentals such as food, shelter and clothing.

I was going to keep my trap shut at this obvious bit of trolling, since folks are always telling me how mean and suspicious etc. I am, but since some really decent folks, including some wimminz, have expressed similar views, I'm sayin' my bit too.

Those of you have read my articles at Free Minds and those who know me are fully aware that I was left destitute with a baby and one on the way when their father was killed in an accident. I lived in communal situations, with relatives, and in the cheapest roachbag apartments. I survived on welfare intil the Social Security survivors' insurance started. When my boys started school, I started work. We had food stamps and medical assistance for most of the thirteen years I spent as a single parent. I didn't make excuses for our poverty or for the lifestyle we created within it. I walked to the bank, grocery store, clinic, park, and welfare office, carrying the little baby in a papoose carrier, pushing the bigger babe in a buggy big enough to hold him and a sack of groceries.

The point is that your crying 'don't judge me till you've been there' is pure rationalization. Lots of women right here on this forum have raised little ones successfully, alone, without resorting to turning tricks. It's your choice. personally, if I was going to sell myself it would NOT be in short-term rentals as you described. Especially if I was as pretty as you claim to be...but if I HAD chosen that route to support us, I darn sure would not be crying to a bunch of strangers that it isn't fair to judge me for my chosen road.

Lots of words, but dern if I can figger out the content, brother. Try plain laguage, using lots of big words doesn't make you sound smarter.

Try picking one topic and sticking to it. We can follow much easier that way.

Well the breathing and relaxation techniques used in natural childbirth could be considered a form of self-hynosis. It's all geared to enable a woman to overcome her body's natural tendency to tense at the onset of pain. You use memorized techniques to control breathing and even thinking, so you can relax the muscles not actively involved in birth contractions. Since learning the childbirthing techniques, I find them amazingly useful during moments of high stress.

At certain points in my breakdown/recovery, especially when I was nursing my molester father after his stroke, the relaxation and visualization I learned in childbirth prep classes, as well as the visualization taught me by a therapist (which, eerily, were the same as techniques explained to me by a practicing warlock who used them for protection during 'astral spirit work')were all that kept me from running screaming and weeping from the situation. Putting a protective blue glass bubble around my mind kept molester Dad from popping thru my emotional defenses when I washed or otherwise touched Dad the patient. Visualizing my safe place kept me from freeking when I started free-floating back to the bad scary past.

Self-hynosis is self-empowerment. Controlling your gut reactions with carefully planned responses is one of the best uses of mnemonic techniques IMO. Nothing demonic about it. The WT warns against it for the same reason they warn against any independent thought; if you can learn to control your emotional baggage, you aren't a scared biddable sheep anymore, and no longer easily led. Taking control of your own thought trains will always lead to scheduling conflicts with those who want to keep you exclusively on their track.

Casper touched Mommie's eyeball here! The abuse of babies and little kids is the worst part of the JW treatment of children. For every JW who insists these incidents are rare and unusual, I hear from a hundred folk like you who recall babies being hit with spoons, pinched, shaken, whacked, smacked, and otherwise yanked around. I did it to my kids when I was still a JW, egged on by every elderette I ever knew. People gave me spoons and pingpong paddles and lathe-turned paddles to use on my rowdy boys. I beat them, and by the time we left, we had a genuine problem of physical violence to overcome. It took intensive family therapy to find a new dynamic. We worked hard to keep Ike from killing himself. (I was able to instill the same self-loathing I had been given into at least one of my kids.) He is still feeling the effects. We did an immersion therapy program, a counselor came to our house for two hours twice a week and we all had individual counseling, too. We learned a lot, but even so it takes tremendous effort to break those old bad sad vicious habits of conquer-and-dominate we learned from the Tower. My ADHD sons, now grown men, still tend to think with fists and have to be cajoled into using brains to solve with finesse what muscle can solve with brute force.

Growing up JW sucked rotten eggs. Every gift and talent I had was denigrated as sinful, selfish, somehow dirty. Singing, writing, acting? FILTH! And I was FILTH for wanting those things in my life... today as a middle-aged woman I have to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I wonder if I can figure it out before all my hairs are grey?
